How to Battle a Dragon….

His eyes are taking you in, measuring you up…black, beady and evil. He knows one thing, he is great… you are small… and you are no match for him.

Your eyes are doing the same, measuring your opponent, watching, and waiting for the attack.  And you know, as he does, that this is a battle you cannot win.

So why do it?  Why risk the scars, the defeat, the utter humiliation of losing the battle?

Because you must,  because the right thing to do is to stand against what threatens you and yours and fight, regardless of the odds, regardless of the result.  Because that’s what good people do.  When pushed they don’t push back, but they stand again… when hit, they don’t hit back, but stand again… and when battling a dragon… with it’s fire and talons, and great sharp teeth, even though it is clear you will end up losing the battle…you stand your ground.

…Because the next time you battle,  the dragon WILL remember, that you are one who will stand when you must.. fight when you must… and oblige in….even… a battle you can’t win.

  1. “You’re in the midst of a war: a battle between the limits of a crowd seeking the surrender of your dreams, and the power of your true vision to create and contribute. It is a fight between those who will tell you what you cannot do, and that part of you that knows / and has always known / that we are more than our environment; and that a dream, backed by an unrelenting will to attain it, is truly a reality with an imminent arrival.”
