The Existence of a Punk and a Tinhorn
Try as we might, we never can escape them, can we?
You’ve probably heard the expression from your grandparents…and old west movies…. “A Punk and a Tinhorn.”
They live all around us, though have nothing, still possess all the power, and use it not to help those in need, feed those who are hungry and clothe those who are cold, but to further their own greedy needs. To acquire more stuff…and look down and control those have less. They have big names, popular ones, nice cars, dollar signs, but for some reason, instead of fear or respect… your thoughts of them always lead to a great swell of pity.
You know them, they have changed the way they dress, where they work, the circles they travel in,…. but the term remains accurate all the same. The user, the poser…the tinhorn. The one who thinks they are the boss til the boss shows up, and still somehow, the boss is a puppet in their hands and never knows, poor bastard.
I often wonder what tribe chief, car salesman, religious leader, or politician started all this… corruption, this….. pretending. But then it’s futile to wonder isn’t it? All we can do is respond with what’s real, and let the liars lie themselves into an early grave.
You’ve seen it through history, especially in the wild west…..the punk cowers in the corner, for that is his domain, his world, his kingdom and the only place the fellow is safe…and when his world is threatened, the tinhorn comes out to play, directing traffic from his corner, manipulating his way into safety. All the time his eyes full and wide with fear and paranoia he dares to pass off as something justified.
The old west had a specific code….you live by the gun, you die by the gun….and no one lives like a tinhorn… but of course, when fate has had enough and determines his end…. no one dies like one either.
I always remember, in today’s society, the real may lose many battles, but never the war. Because when the show is over…so is the performance…and better the truth of you stand with you as a real and pure human being small mistakes and all……
…….rather than meet the final fate of that of a fake, a punk and a tinhorn.
Keep it real. Represent.
