To the movies!! Awwaaay!!
So I must say I had a weekend of adventure when it came to the movies. Saturday, I went to see Star Trek, which rocked on a whole new level most Trekkies could scarcely imagine. I mean really. The new life breathed into this series was WELL worth the 8 bucks. My husband even liked it and he ain’t easy pleasin’ …(well with movies anyway! )

From beginning to end, I was glued. And what I liked most about this new and I must say improved version of Star Trek, is that it was not Kirk-driven, like all the others. Every crew member of the old Enterprise series model NCC-1701 (yes, I memorized all the Enterprises) had their own time to shine as an important part of the crew. We get to see how they all came to be part of the original Enterprise crew, most by accident or a stroke of luck, going to show that sometimes, like Optimus Prime says, “Fate rarely calls on us at a time of our choosing.”

The symphony of action, plot twists and excellently-acted character stories once again proves that J. J. Abrams is doing exactly what the universe designed him to do.
Experience the Trek. ‘Nuff said.
Also, I had a stroke of double-luck and somehow ended up at the movies again the very next day to see the almighty wonder: Terminator: Salvation. As I was excited to write last week as I spilled my guts with my opinions on how this film could be easily doomed to those judgemental enough to only dwell on the bad stuff, it just was not so. Though leaving a bit to be desired, the film served up plenty of action and adventure, the drama, in my personal opinion was held up single-handedly by Bryce Dallas Howard, (who I must say, is more stunningly beautiful with baby fat, versus without) who had the task of worrying about the fate-driven future, John Connor, the medical care of those who returned from missions (which were very few indeed) AND their unborn child.
As a director, McG still needs a bit of work in my opinion, but they guy sure can keep an eye glued when it comes to action. If he was seeking some sort of salvation as well, he’s more than halfway there with this film.
So, I’d have to say, the film is definitely worth at least a matinee-priced ticket. All the redemption missions, Bale’s mission for redemption, McG’s mission for respect, new life for a series fast losing it’s appeal, most definitely delivered at least most of the way.
So at least see a mid-day showing. Sneak in your own snacks, cause the price for a nerds rope, a small drink, and a tiny plate of nachos is highway robbery.
This weekend we have Up. If I can escape the clutches of cleaning my parent’s old house, I’ll get the lowdown for you guys.
Later Movie maniacs!
