The Smile I Smiled

I was going through my old blogs over at myspace today and remembered this one as something very special to me… thought you guys might enjoy it. I get lots of site hits, though not many comments, so I KNOW you’re reading… as always you don’t have to comment, but at least enjoy something I wrote a while back:

I smiled a smile today on the way to work. At a man walking out to get his mail. He smiled at the mailman, who smiled at a pilot who flew a plane across the country to a postal destination in the Bahamas. The pilot smiled at a little girl who came to get the package containing her first pair of shoes, who smiled as she walked proudly down her cluttered streets, at a nun who then smiled at a man taking a boat across the sea. When he landed in Africa, his smile was passed to a couple vacationing abroad, they smiled on their cruise ship to all that passed by as they lived a second honeymoon for all to see. Everyone who left that ship smiled, but especially a cabin boy, who rushed home to see his family in China, and bring to them the first money earned in years. As they ate their first full meal in a long time, they all smiled to each other, and looking out the window that smile was seen by an old man walking down the street who smiled at a missionary packing for home. the smile never left his face as he enjoyed his layover in Austrailia as well as South America, and as he landed back here in Utah, he hugged his family through tears of joy. As his family rode home in their car, singing and laughing, all with light hearts, a little girl stared out the window of the car sitting in traffic next to her… to see my face…smiling back at her.

I taught the world to smile today. What have YOU done lately?
