New Moon

Yes, folks, sorry to say, I was one of the Twitards who stood in line on opening day for the film.

It was quite decent, I must say, but I expect nothing less from director Chris Weitz. I truly wish he had at the helm of Twilight, I think it would have been and even bigger phenomena, if that was possible at all.

Made from the bestselling book of the same name, it continues the story of Bella and Edward, a mortal and vampire who have the most g-rated, needy relationship anyone could ever think of. The story begins on Bella’s birthday, as she gets a paper cut opening a present and barely survives attack by Edwards vampire “brother”, Jasper. Ashamed and supposedly afraid for Bella’s life, Edward decides to move away and leave her, which sends her into spiraling depression in which she performs dangerous stunts in order to see visions of him. She gets better when she begins to hang out with friend Jacob, however and starts to “feel the healing”, so to speak, as is normal when getting over a twisted relationship. But besides how awesome Jacob is to her, she has no need to complain, until, due to a terrible mix-up, Edward comes back into the picture. Besides thinking the whole time there was something terribly wrong with the way this story was going, the story was told quite well, especially when the concept of werewolves enter the picture, in the form of a tasty piece of jail bait named Taylor Lautner. Yes, I carry the shame of being Team Jacob, but that’s okay. It needed to be said to clear my last level of recovery. Now I can give it up forever…until Eclipse in the spring. (Good grief, I don’t think I’ve ever been more ashamed to write a favorable review.) But it was good. Worth the 8 bucks.
